It's official - you may now call me Professor Wilde. Well, it's sort-of official. I give the final nod Monday. And I'll still be working at the bookstore to keep what the French call le benefits. And my first stint will just be a half-semester comp course to see if this will work out, but still....

So, I missed the Inauguration. I was at work. Unlike A couple of my coworkers, I did not take the day off or call in sick. But I'm not really politically minded. I wasn't all fired up about it. So, I think I haven't put this here yet, but I just was notified that I will be advancing to Head Cashier in the next couple of weeks. It means less time hefting heavy mags (though that will still be part of my job), full time hours guaranteed, and a pay raise. Well, I am working at my new job now (which directly and inversely relates to the amount of LJ time I have now available). It's not bad; it's still temp, but the pay's pretty good, and if I stick it out for a little while I can get my apartment or travel. Probably travel, knowing me. There's a temporary job working as an essay scorer at ACT, paying pretty well and with 30-40 hours per week. It only lasts a month, but I got a position! The lady emailed me today; I have orientation on the 28th (Monday), not sure what time yet. Then I will be able to enjoy scoring essays. Actually I am looking forward to it. We've been trying to set up a meeting with him for a while now; but he and his wife do this as a pair and they've had some delays recently (a surgery, an illness in the family) and hadn't had him down to look over things yet.
